Yorkshire private equity firm, Winch & Co, has appointed a new finance director to head up its finance and due diligence teams.
Kurt Heron, who has a strong background in financial services, having worked as Head of SME at Barclays Bank, as well as working in senior financial roles at the Lloyds Banking Group and the University of Durham, will report to managing partner Nathan Winch and the wider management team at Winch & Co.
Winch & Co has set its sights on acquiring five transport companies. Last November, Midlands based Eclipse Distribution Solutions, became its first, followed this April by Dedicated Transport Solutions, which is located in Cramlington, County Durham.
Winch & Co was founded by Yorkshire entrepreneur Nathan Winch, who sold his first business in 2017. The business, which is based in the centre of Leeds and which has over 100 full time employees, invests in established companies in industrial and service-based industries, as well as deploying dynamic growth capital.
Nathan Winch said: “We are happy to welcome Kurt Heron to the team as our new finance director. He is an extremely competent individual with strong, relevant experience in senior roles at various financial institutions.
“I’m looking forward to getting Kurt on board to help us expand and increase the scope of our acquisitions”
Kurt Heron added: “I’m really looking forward to working with Nathan, Shaun, Debra and the wider Winch & Co management team into the future.
“I’m eager to add value to an already sophisticated operation; together we can really level up the types of deal-making that the business does.”
As Finance Director, Kurt will be tasked with overseeing all financial activities and monthly reporting of the group companies, training accounting staff, managing the outsourced accountant(s), budgeting, financial forecasting for both new acquisition transactions as well as incumbent companies, managing risk, implementing policies and improving financial processes.
