Winch & Co, the boutique investment house specialising in acquiring, building and transforming SME businesses across the UK, has officially opened its new South Yorkshire office this week.
The new site, located between Barnsley and Wakefield, will serve as a strategic operational hub for the firm’s expanding portfolio and management activities.
The addition of the South Yorkshire base strengthens Winch & Co’s footprint across the North, complementing its existing presence in Leeds and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Geographically, the location provides exceptional access to the M1 corridor, connecting the team quickly to key sites across the North East, Yorkshire, the Midlands and the South. For a group actively involved in logistics, manufacturing, property, renewable energy and business services, the position is “exactly where it needs to be” for fast, hands-on portfolio engagement.
The new office will support day-to-day oversight of the group’s businesses; including operational audits, turnarounds, commercial work and investment deployments, and offers a central point of contact for lenders, advisors, partners and suppliers. The location also allows Winch & Co’s senior team to be more accessible to the large number of portfolio assets and projects situated in the region.
Nathan Winch, Chief Executive at Winch & Co, said, “South Yorkshire has increasingly become the gravitational centre of our activity. With so many of our portfolio companies, partners and live projects sitting within a 60-minute drive of this spot, it just made sense to create a physical base here. Being right off the M1 means we can reach almost anywhere in the UK quickly, which is essential when you’re running operationally intensive businesses. This office cements our long-term commitment to the region and supports the next phase of our growth.”
Debra Hart, Commercial Director at Winch & Co, added, “This new office enhances our ability to stay close to the businesses we support. Our work can be very hands-on at the beginning of a project, and being centrally placed gives us the agility to react quickly, meet management teams on the ground, and continue improving performance across the portfolio. South Yorkshire is a fantastic site for us as it’s practical, well-connected and reinforces the strong foundations we’re building as Winch & Co continues to scale.”
Winch & Co continues to grow its presence across the UK through strategic acquisitions, operational improvements and value-driven support for ambitious small and medium-sized businesses, often in financial or operational distress.
